Colin Palmieri Quartet, featuring Charlie Schefft Cover

Colin Palmieri — alto saxophone Charlie Schefft — drums & cymbals Alex Nicodemus — piano Jack Early — bass Colin Palmieri is a 22-year-old saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and educator from Hudson, OH. While a student teaching this fall to finish his bachelor's in Music Education (Jazz Saxophone Specialization) at CCM, Palmieri continues pushing his performance side by regularly playing with a band under his name. This special Thursday, Cincinnati native turned New Yorker Charlie Schefft returns home to join the CPQ on drums & cymbals and put his style on two sets of Colin Palmieri original compositions! Charlie Schefft, born the son of the late drummer Bruce Schefft, has been playing the drums since he was a boy, sitting on his father’s lap and playing piano since he was 7. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education & Jazz from CCM, Charlie quickly became a major player in Cincinnati’s music scene. Playing around town for years and made records with his own band, On a Limb, Eric Wurzelbacher (who also played at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2019 and 2022), and JD Allen (for who he recorded two songs for an HBO Original Documentary “A Choice of Weapons: The Legacy of Gordon Parks”). Since moving to New York, Charlie has gone on to play with the likes of veteran and contemporary musicians: Anthony Wonsey, ELEW, Joel Ross, Philip Harper, Johnny O’Neal, Jazzmeia Horn, Melanie Charles, Sam Dillon, Takuya Koroda, Ben Tiberio and many more, frequently performing at some of the most prominent jazz clubs such as Smalls Jazz Club, Arthur’s Tavern, Minton’s Playhouse and Nublu.” A $15 drink/food minimum is charged per person in the party, per set, if the total for beverages purchased by the party does not meet the minimum. Important Notices: If you do not check in by 15 minutes into the start of the set, we reserve the right to resale your seats with no refund. Refunds must be requested 24 hours before the start of the performance.
