The Mike Wade Sextet pays tribute to the great Woody Shaw with an evening of spirited, hard-swinging jazz. Featuring Shaw’s music alongside selections by Melvin Broach, the Harper Brothers, and Antonio Hart, the program brings together bold horn lines, soulful grooves, and room for all six musicians to stretch out.

Trumpeter and bandleader Mike Wade has performed or recorded with jazz greats including Clark Terry, David “Fathead” Newman, Gary Bartz, Javon Jackson, and Mulgrew Miller. Named one of Jazziz magazine’s top ten unsigned jazz brass players in 1997, Wade brings fire, creativity, and a commanding presence to the bandstand. Miller described him as “a very exciting and creative jazz trumpeter” and “a very charismatic bandleader.”

A $15 drink/food minimum is charged per person in the party, per set, if the total for beverages purchased by the party does not meet the minimum.
