Two-time GRAMMY® nominee Christian Sands brings Christmas Stories to Caffè Vivace, offering a holiday program shaped by memory, family, reflection, and renewal. The acclaimed pianist approaches familiar seasonal music with warmth and imagination, connecting the comfort of tradition with the energy and openness of contemporary jazz.

The program draws from Sands’ Mack Avenue album Christmas Stories, a collection that transforms holiday favorites and introduces new pieces of his own. “Jingle Bells” is recast through the bluesy swing of Miles Davis’ “All Blues,” while “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” takes on a lively Latin pulse. “Silent Night” grows from quiet introspection into an expansive musical journey, and original compositions including “Snow Dayz,” “Shoveling,” “The Gift,” and “Last Christmas” explore the excitement, responsibility, generosity, and remembrance that accompany the season.

A protégé of the late Dr. Billy Taylor, Sands released his first album at age 12 and later gained wider recognition through his work with Christian McBride’s trio and Inside Straight. His playing combines formidable technique with a broad, forward-looking sense of jazz. At Caffè Vivace, the intimate trio setting places that sound at the center of a holiday concert that is celebratory, thoughtful, and deeply personal.
